And among them (are those) who listen to you, but We have placed over their hearts coverings lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if they see every sign not they will believe in it. Until, when they come to you and argue with you say those who disbelieved, "Not (is) this but (the) tales (of) the former (people)."

And there are among them such as [seem to] listen to thee [O Prophet]: but over their hearts We have laid veils which prevent them from grasping the truth, and into their ears, deafness. And were they to see every sign [of the truth], they would still not believe in it-so much so that when they come unto thee to contend with thee, those who are bent on denying the truth say, "This is nothing but fables of ancient times!"
Of them are some who listen unto thee, but We have placed upon their hearts veils, lest they should understand, and in their ears a deafness. If they saw every token they would not believe therein; to the point that, when they come unto thee to argue with thee, the disbelievers say: This is naught else than fables of the men of old
Of them there are some who (pretend to) listen to thee; but We have thrown veils on their hearts, So they understand it not, and deafness in their ears; if they saw every one of the signs, not they will believe in them; in so much that when they come to thee, they (but) dispute with thee; the Unbelievers say: "These are nothing but tales of the ancients."
And of them is he who hearkens to you, and We have cast veils over their hearts lest they understand it and a heaviness into their ears; and even if they see every sign they will not believe in it; so much so that when they come to you they only dispute with you; those who disbelieve say: This is naught but the stories of the ancients

There are some of them who ˹pretend to˺ listen to your recitation ˹of the Quran˺, but We have cast veils over their hearts—leaving them unable to comprehend it—and deafness in their ears. Even if they were to see every sign, they still would not believe in them. The disbelievers would ˹even˺ come to argue with you, saying, “This ˹Quran˺ is nothing but ancient fables!”

There are among them such as could not help but listen to you (reciting the Qur’an), but We have laid veils over their hearts (made by their ill-intention, wrongdoing, and arrogance, which caused them to lose the capacity to believe) so that they do not comprehend it (and so cannot believe), and in their ears, heaviness: even if they see whatever manifest sign (pointing to God’s Unity and other truths of faith), they will not believe in it – so much so that when they come to you (only in order) to dispute with you, they, who have disbelieved, say: "This is nothing but fables of the ancients."
There are some of them who prick up their ears at you, but We have cast veils on their hearts lest they should understand it, and a deafness into their ears; and though they should see every sign, they will not believe in it. When they come to you, to dispute with you, the faithless say, ‘These are nothing but myths of the ancients.&rsquo

And among them are they who listen to you, and We set (Literally: make) upon their hearts lids, (so) they do not comprehend it, and in their ears obstruction; and in case they see every sign, they do not believe in it, until (the time) when they come to you, they dispute with you. The ones who have disbelieved say, "Decidedly this is nothing except the myths of the earliest (peoples)."
Some of them listen to you, but We have veiled their hearts so that they cannot understand and made them deaf. They disbelieve all the evidence (of Our existence) that they may have seen. They only come to you for the sake of argument and the disbelievers say that (whatever Muhammad says) is no more than ancient legends

Blind followers fail to believe even when they see all kinds of proofs. When they come to argue with you, they say about the Qur'an, "These are stories of the bygones."

And then, there are those among them who pretend to listen to you. We have wrapped their hearts in a thick veil, so they understand nothing. We have rendered their ears deaf (for the truth). They would not believe even if they see all the signs. To an extent that, they argue and dispute with you when they come to see you. The unbelievers say, "These are just legends invented by those gone by!"

So much so, that when they come to you to argue with you, those, who suppress the Truth, say, "These are nothing but tales of the ealier people."

Among them there are the ones who come to you pretending that they are listening; but [in account of their unforgivable sins] I have already made them blind and deaf to the truth. As they cannot understand it, their only "natural" response will be: "These versus are nothing than mythological stories of the past."

And amongst them are (also) some who keep their ears towards you, and (in view of their evil intentions) We have wrapped their hearts in veils. (So, it is not possible for them now) that they may understand it (the Qur’an) and (We have) plugged their ears. And even if they see all signs (naked), they (still) will not believe in them, so much so that when they approach you and quarrel with you, the disbelievers say (at that time): ‘This (Qur’an) is nothing but fabricated stories of the old folk.
And of them there are some who listen to you; but We have set veils on their hearts, so they understand it not, and deafness in their ears; if they see every one of the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) they will not believe therein; to the point that when they come to you to argue with you, the disbelievers say: "These are nothing but tales of the men of old."
And some of them there are that listen to thee, and We lay veils upon their hearts lest they understand it, and in their ears heaviness; and if they see any sign whatever, they do not believe in it, so that when they come to thee they dispute with thee, the unbelievers saying, 'This is naught but the fairy-tales of the ancient ones.

They will believe in none of Our signs, even if they see them, one and all. When they come to argue with you the unbelievers say: ‘This is nothing but fables of the ancients.&lsquo

Of such people, some listen to you, but We have covered their hearts with veils. In this way, they do not understand because of the [spiritual] deafness in their ears. If they saw every one of Our signs, they would not believe in them. [They would disbelieve] to such extent that, when they approach you, they just want to argue. The unbelievers claim, “These [signs] are nothing but tales of the ancients.”
Some of them listen to you. But over their hearts We have laid veils which prevent them from understanding what you say, and into their ears, deafness. Were they to see every sign, they would still not believe in it. When they come to you to contend with you, the unbelievers say: “This is nothing but fables of the ancients.â€
And among them are some who hear you... But We have placed veils over their hearts (consciousness) and heaviness in their ears (comprehension) so they cannot perceive Him! No matter how many proofs they see, they will still not believe... Moreover, when the deniers of the reality who argue with you come to you, they will say, “This is nothing other than fairytales of the past.”

The fact is that We have closed their hearts’ ears and deafened their ears to reason. They just would not apprehend with their senses any revelation or any sign no matter how convincing to the mind they be. And when they come to you O Muhammad they do not humble themselves but in arrogance they are more ready to argue than to obey. Vested with infidelity, they interpret their thoughts in words: "This is nothing", they say, "but fables of old"
And among them is he who seeks to hear you but We have put veils on their hearts lest they understand and in their ears is heaviness, and (even) if they see every sign they will not believe in it, to the point that, when they come to you they will dispute with you. Those who do not believe say, "These are nothing but stories of the ancient." it, to the point that, when they come to you they will dispute with you. Those who do not believe say, "These are nothing but stories of the ancient."
